You left me for a vegetarian man.
no one called me.

there was no letter, no email.

it was you who said it.

you had met him at the Green Door restaurant

he had long hair and magnetic bracelets

forty’sh and unemployed.

but he was your soul mate

your spiritual mentor. › Continue reading

How can I save you?

My name is Gabriel Bynum (Gabie Denise). I was born and raised in Baton Rouge, La. I have been writing since I was in the 7th grade. Writing has always been the best way to express myself. I consider myself an artist and I enjoy art in all forms.

——————————————————————

How can I save you

When I need to be saved

How can I correct your attitude

When I need to behave

And how I can I tell you to pray

When I neglect my own prayers

How can I tell you to find yourself

When I need to peel my own layers

How can I save your soul

When my soul sometimes seems ablaze

How can I show you I love you

When I don’t love me some days

How can I hold you

When I need to be held

How I can be there for you

When I need you to be here

How can I treat you right

When I’ve been treated wrong

How can I sing to you

When no ones given me a song

When I feel empty to the core

How can I save you

When I need to be saved more

But this does not stop my will

To be there by your side

It’s funny how we love so hard

And leave ourselves behind

Getting myself together

To be ready for your puzzle

I’ll help you get together

So neither of us have to suffer.

Three Photos

Mikayla has high hopes: to travel, and document, to her heart’s content. In the meantime, however, she rejoices in her surroundings and fills notebook after notebook with elaborate retellings of her seemingly ordinary life. These musings are often accompanied by an obsessive need to photograph all the beautiful things that grace her ever insatiable eyes. Days can be spent with cheap wine and sunlight, and daydreams of following in the idyllic footsteps of those she is so influenced by.

These are called: De Maisonneuve, Foliage and On the Way. Please offer her whatever comments seem appropriate to you.

Look up this time

This one from my brother Brian:

Thoughts of last night are torturing me

We gave into “I love you” ’s and lust after a failed world war three

Playing with the black and white I’m inspired to let out all the amazing you see in me

Sitting still, thoughts of happiness like this used to make me ill

Jealous,I got angry instead of wishing others well › Continue reading

parallel distance

From Tara:

Wiping her tears with a mascara brush,

She adjusts her bra containing her only sense of worth,

Exiting with her armor on – nobody in, nothing out,

Fearful that the bird contained in her chest will escape, only to be shot,

Trust no one.

Deathly stares to all who approach – they are all out to get her,

Who is out to get whom, exactly?

Self Destruct.

Heels, fancy wheels and sequence blind the superficial eye.

Eventually everyone sees. They always do.

Hurt people hurt people, I remind myself,

Secretly I can relate with this girl, I guess it isn’t much a secret,

Her scars surface through the makeup.

Crushing hearts, one by one – she is alone.

I pray.

Untitled

This poem is brought to us by a great poet that I am really excited to have on the site. He would like some feedback on his current work. He wants to remain anonymous for a variety of reasons.

Upright, Down-right Wrong
I’m standing while I’m lying straight—I hope not to your face.
(I don’t know the meaning of outstanding)
I’ve lost the meaning of upstanding, outstanding, understanding—Great!…
My balance is gone, but maybe it was always wrong.
This is serious business—hearts are on the line.
It’s certainly not the time, to play with lives.
It’s about time…to decide what to do—

At least save the feelings of a few.
Who are you? What is this? Are you proud…?
Are these the things you do…? You’re sure?
Because love shouldn’t be confused war.
