The Ebb

A chilling tail of defeat,
the leaf floats down to join the remnants of the tree.
Things tend to want to slow down the colder it gets,
even stop in the face of growth, a sense of giving up, unable to fully extend to the next season.
We see it every year, the stoppage of life and start of the frigid days.
We slowly drag our feet through it, unaware of the work it took to create this carpet of color.
Each foot step emitting a screeching cry of release,
the story of the last six months, soaring above the earth, hubristically starring down at all below it.
As life turns to wait for the warmth of the air,we give way to our senses,
thinking it’s an end, we forget that only a page has turned.
Reality does not cease but only pauses for eternal growth.

To meet someone

Away from home. You don’t expect to meet someone. You can’t, you won’t, you shouldn’t. A man alone in a foreign land, walking the bars late at night, what can he do? What should he do? But it happened. Alone he walked up and down the street. Searching for a quaint place to spend the rest of the evening. Nowhere special in mind, just somewhere on that street. It’s then he turned around to see those eyes; those green eyes. The green eyes that have stayed with him till this day. Oh! and that smile, what a smile she had. She didn’t see him and passed right by. He had seen her. He noticed where she went, in that bar, the bar after the bus, the white bus that was carrying a singing star, the reason they would get together.

Click

How can such a beautiful country foster so much hate?

How can trees, mountains, valleys and rivers encourage us not to love?

How can a bird flying, a bear walking and fish swimming cause us to harm?

Does the sun not shine through all our hearts?

Do we not all see through the same eyes?

I was told to avoid fields, woods and vacant land,

for fear of the click that would end my life,

left alone waiting forever to do its job.

Death surrounded by beauty, willfully placed by ones hand.

Why, I will never understand.
